Live Multimedia Production

When I joined the Georgia Tech Center for Music Technology (GTCMT), I was excited to help grow their program. The opportunity presented itself through the Guthman New Musical Instrument Competition, a renowned concert featuring new musical instruments. With the encouragement and support of Frank Clark, Chris Moore & Jason Freeman, I brought my previous experience in concert livestreaming to Georgia Tech.

Over several years, I helped initiate a program of live multimedia production. As a teacher of graduate and undergraduates, I created an active learning environment that fostered students problem solving abilities and multimedia aesthetic. Our key broadcast was the annual Guthman Musical Instrument Competition. I supervised production teams as they mixed live concert footage that we simultaneously broadcast to the web. I served as coordinator, technologist and executive producer from 2016 – 2020.

I served as chief engineer and executive producer of the 2019 Margaret Guthman Musical Instrument Competition Final Concert.

Here are some other examples of the instruments we encountered:

Part of my work involved engineering a tech set-up that would enable students to perform multichannel audio-visual mixing & broadcasting. By developing this form of music technology and educating students, I hope I am opening the world to accessible and magical virtual music experiences.
