{"id":143,"date":"2013-09-26T23:15:34","date_gmt":"2013-09-26T23:15:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mikewinters.io\/?p=143"},"modified":"2019-09-30T02:09:49","modified_gmt":"2019-09-30T02:09:49","slug":"concert-livestreaming","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mikewinters.io\/?p=143","title":{"rendered":"Concert Livestreaming"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>At the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcgill.ca\/music\/\">Schulich School of Music<\/a>, I had the privilege of joining their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCD0cj-ojtNFNCSl2PvQvW4w\">concert livestream<\/a> team, which was led by Grammy Award-Winning professors <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcgill.ca\/music\/george-massenburg\">George Massenburg<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcgill.ca\/music\/richard-king\">Richard King<\/a>. I didn&#8217;t know much about production at that time, but as a pianist, I was passionate about performance. I quickly fell in love with the excitement of streaming high-quality concerts to audiences all over the world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Mozart: Die Zauberfl\u00f6te - Opera McGill\/McGill Symphony Orchestra (2019: Cast 1)\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/N-iLPUxJVKY?start=4110&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><figcaption>A livestream of Opera McGill and McGill Symphony Orchestra 2019 production of Mozart&#8217;s, <em>Die Zauberflote<\/em>.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>When I joined, the team was regularly producing audio broadcasts of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcgill.ca\/music\/ensembles\/orchestras\/baroque-orchestra\">Baroque Orchestra<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcgill.ca\/music\/ensembles\/orchestras\/mcgill-contemporary-music-ensemble\">Contemporary Music Ensemble<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcgill.ca\/music\/ensembles\/jazz\/big-band\">Jazz Orchestra<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcgill.ca\/music\/ensembles\/orchestras\/mgso\">McGill Symphony Orchestra<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcgill.ca\/music\/ensembles\/opera\">Opera McGill<\/a>. I served as team engineer and coordinator in the year of their transformation to live audio-visual production.
